HISTORY
The Anthony Hordern building, as it was known was built in 1924, originally housed the Anthony Hordern and Sons department store that catered to country patrons of the Royal Easter Show. The building was renamed the Banquet Hall in 1986, and subsequently Byron Kennedy Hall in 1998. A pioneer of the contemporary Australian film industry, Byron Kennedy (1949-1983) is best known for producing the highly successful films Mad Max I and II with director George Miller.
Today, the Byron Kennedy Hall is a popular space for banquets, cocktail parties, product launches, theme parties and special events. Extensive renovations have highlighted the building’s original features including a stunning central done supported by six ornate columns, jarrah floors, lead skylights and distinctive clock tower. The venue is complemented by an ante room, charming veranda and landscaped garden courtyard suitable for pre dinner entertaining.
